13 people arrested in Croatia for illegally disposing of hazardous waste, Europol says

Thirteen people, including two high-value targets, have been arrested in Croatia for illegally importing and disposing of hazardous waste from Italy, Slovenia, and Germany. Over 35,000 tons of waste were dumped instead of properly treated, resulting in a profit of 4 million euros. The criminal network also illegally buried medical waste, causing considerable ecological damage and leading to an investigation for criminal conspiracy, crimes against the environment, tax evasion, and money laundering by Croatian authorities.
