Allahabad High Court Intervention

The Allahabad High Court has intervened to stop the demolition of 27 homes in Bareilly’s Shahabad area, stressing the need for due process. Residents, who have been paying taxes, received notices claiming their homes were illegal. The court ordered the local civic body to provide a reasoned order following a personal hearing. Until this is completed, no coercive action can be taken against the residents.
