NEW DELHI: The winter session of Parliament is expected to face disruptions as the opposition demands a discussion on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, an issue that dominated the previous session. During an all-party meeting led by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, opposition parties also raised concerns over national security and pollution but focused on SIR, alleging irregularities. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju did not guarantee a discussion, prompting opposition leaders to signal potential obstruction of proceedings. Despite the government’s agenda including various bills, the deadlock continues, with Congress emphasizing that SIR is a non-negotiable topic.
