Pan-India SIR to Start in a Week, Three-Month Phases

NEW DELHI will soon see a staggered pan-India special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls within four to five days, with each phase lasting about three months, similar to Bihar’s recent SIR. The Election Commission aims for a timely rollout, focusing on states with assembly polls next year, while some regions like J&K and Ladakh may be excluded initially due to logistical challenges.
