Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the final segment of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Line (USBRL), connecting Kashmir to the rest of India via rail for the first time. The event highlighted the completion of the world’s highest railway arch bridge over the Chenab River and India’s first cable-stayed Anji Bridge, with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw calling it a historic day realized through the Prime Minister’s determination. The USBRL project, featuring 36 tunnels and 943 bridges, aims to enhance economic growth and tourism in Jammu and Kashmir, alongside the launch of two Vande Bharat Express trains.
