On April 22, 2025, terrorists from The Resistance Front attacked a tourist site in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, killing 28 people, marking the deadliest incident since the 2019 Pulwama bombing. This attack coincided with US Vice President JD Vance’s visit to India and is seen as part of Pakistan’s strategy to assert its geopolitical relevance amidst economic overtures to the US regarding mineral wealth. Survivors recounted chilling moments where attackers demanded victims recite Islamic verses, highlighting a disturbing method of targeting non-Muslims amidst rising tensions in the region.
