External affairs minister S Jaishankar and US secretary of state Marco Rubio expressed appreciation for the “counter-terrorism cooperation” between India and the US following the extradition of 26/11 main accused Tahawwur Rana to face charges related to the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. Rana, a Canadian citizen of Pakistani origin, faces serious charges including conspiracy, murder, and committing a terrorist act tied to his alleged involvement with the designated terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The extradition marks a significant step in ensuring justice for the victims of the attacks, with Rana currently held in a high-security cell at the NIA headquarters in Delhi.
