'Should not act as per political expediency': SC slams TN guv for 'sitting over' Bills

The Supreme Court criticized Tamil Nadu governor RN Ravi for withholding assent to 10 Bills passed by the state assembly, declaring his actions illegal and arbitrary. The Court stated that a governor cannot use an absolute or pocket veto and must act within specified time limits, as per Article 200 of the Constitution. Emphasizing the need for governors to respect the decisions of the state assembly, the Court set aside the governor’s actions and outlined guidelines for future bill approvals.
