BJD’s internal discord over the voting on the Waqf Bill escalated as Rajya Sabha member Debashish Samantaray accused former bureaucrat V K Pandian of conspiring in the party’s flip-flop on the issue, drawing criticism from party colleagues. Samantaray’s allegations caused unrest within the party, with members Manas Mangaraj, Sulata Deo, Niranjan Bisi, and Subhasish Khuntia defending Pandian and urging Samantaray to address grievances internally rather than in the media. Despite Samantaray’s claims, party members emphasized that Pandian, who has retired from politics, should not be blamed for the controversy.
