The U.S. Navy is set to reveal the contractor for its next-generation carrier-based stealth fighter, part of a program aimed at countering China’s influence in the Indo-Pacific region. The multi-billion dollar contract is expected to span decades and will replace the Navy’s existing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet fleet with a jet featuring advanced stealth capabilities and enhanced integration capabilities. The decision will be a significant milestone for the F/A-XX program, with the new Secretary of the Navy, John Phelan, recently confirmed.
