Navy, coast guard, police should increase surveillance: Mamata

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee emphasized the need for increased surveillance by the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, and state police in response to turmoil in neighboring Bangladesh. During her visit to inaugurate projects ahead of the Gangasagar Mela, Banerjee directed officials to enhance safety and security measures, including the deployment of local youths as volunteers. She also highlighted the state’s efforts to create an eco-friendly and peaceful mela, stressing the importance of maintaining vigilance on land, air, and water for the safety of pilgrims.
