Oleh Kolesnikov, whose father was a Soviet intelligence agent in Cuba and cousin works with the Russian security service, became a prime candidate for wartime espionage. He supplied the Russians with information about military sites and troop movements in his home city of Zaporizhzhia, supporting the concept of the “Russian World” backed by President Putin, but had regrets about civilian casualties and the prolonged devastation caused by the ongoing war in his homeland.
