India, Russia explore joint production of Sukhoi engine

India and Russia are discussing the potential collaboration in manufacturing engines for Sukhoi fighter jets, with HAL’s DK Sunil in Russia to finalize a deal for AL-31FP aero engines for Su-30MKI jets. The two countries may also consider joint production of jet engines in India, including technology transfer. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh’s upcoming Moscow visit will involve an Inter Governmental Commission meeting and receiving a frigate for the Indian Navy.
