Government considers Rs 6,000 cr tunnel to link Leh with Pangong

The government is considering plans to construct a 7-8 km twin tube tunnel through Kela pass in Ladakh to improve connectivity between Leh and Pangong Lake, as reported by TOI. The project, estimated to cost Rs 6,000 crore, aims to reduce travel time and enhance all-weather connectivity. Discussions are ongoing on whether the Border Road Organisation or the National Highway and Infrastructure Development Corporation will undertake the construction.
