Indian official meets Afghan defence minister, offers use of Chabahar Port to enhance trade

An Indian delegation led by J P Singh met with Afghanistan’s acting Defence Minister Mullah Mohammad Yaqoob to offer the use of Chabahar Port for Afghan businesses and discuss extending humanitarian aid. The delegation also met with former President Hamid Karzai and other senior ministers to discuss India’s ongoing humanitarian assistance efforts in Afghanistan and the potential for utilizing the Chabahar Port for trade. India, which does not recognize the Taliban regime in power, has been providing humanitarian aid to Afghanistan and recently signed a 10-year contract with Iran to develop and operate the Chabahar Port.
