US says evidence shows North Korea has troops in Russia, possibly for Ukraine war

The United States has acknowledged evidence suggesting that North Korea has dispatched 3,000 troops to Russia for potential deployment in Ukraine, a move that could escalate Russia’s conflict with its neighbor. U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin described the situation as “very, very serious,” with White House spokesperson John Kirby confirming the presence of North Korean soldiers in eastern Russia for training at military bases. The U.S. believes the troops were transported by ship from North Korea to Vladivostok before being taken to three military sites in eastern Russia.
