India-China talks over Ladakh patrolling points see advances

India-China talks over friction points along the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh have progressed in the last two weeks, focusing on issues related to patrolling in Depsang and Demchok areas. The first goal is troop disengagement, with both sides showing optimism ahead of the BRICS summit in Russia, to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping. Efforts to uphold peace in border areas were reiterated following previous agreements in September and August.
