Eleven Labour councillors have been suspended from the party due to their membership in a controversial WhatsApp group called Trigger Me Timbers, which has already led to the dismissal of former health minister Andrew Gwynne and the withdrawal of the whip from MP Oliver Ryan. Among those suspended are Mr Gwynne’s wife, former council leader Brenda Warrington, and Claire Reid, a member of Labour’s national policy forum. The group’s members are from Tameside and Stockport councils, and the Labour Party has stated that the suspensions are part of an ongoing investigation into the group’s activities.
