Zoe Saldana won the Bafta for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the Netflix musical Emilia Pérez, directed by Jacques Audiard, where she plays an attorney who undergoes gender affirmation surgery. Despite facing criticism, the film also won Best Film Not In The English Language. In her acceptance speech, Zoe dedicated her award to her trans nephew and emphasized the importance of representing the trans community, but was cut short by a Bafta countdown, prompting her to swear on stage.
