Zelle, the mobile payment app, no longer allows users to send and receive money transfers but remains available through over 2,200 banks and credit unions in the U.S. The change came after only 2% of transactions were made through the standalone app, and a lawsuit against major banks for failing to protect consumers from fraud was filed, later dropped. Users must now enroll in a partnering financial institution to continue using Zelle, with a list of participating banks available online.
