Young people at Banksia Hill invite ‘outside-in’ for first-of-its kind Reconciliation Week event

Young people at Banksia Hill Detention Centre hosted a pioneering event for National Reconciliation Week, titled Benang Moorditjabiny — Becoming Stronger for Tomorrow, which included cultural performances and discussions with 90 attendees, including notable figures like former Senator Patrick Dodson and Attorney General Tony Buti. The event emphasized the importance of reconciliation and community engagement, with Mr. Dodson praising it as a significant initiative. Despite its success, he noted the need for ongoing national improvements to support young people and keep them out of detention.
