The Yale School of Public Health’s Humanitarian Research Lab found evidence that the Sudanese Rapid Support Forces engaged in a campaign to erase evidence of mass killings in el-Fasher, North Darfur, through burial, burning, and removal of human remains. The RSF targeted civilians, resulting in at least 1,500 deaths within 48 hours of taking control of the city. The report relied on satellite imagery and local news reporting to document the systematic nature of the killings and efforts to conceal them. The RSF, accused of committing genocide, has attempted to establish itself as a legitimate international actor despite ongoing atrocities in Sudan.
