World Leaders and Rights Groups Respond to COP30 Climate Agreement

The COP30 climate conference in Belem, Brazil, concluded with an agreement urging countries to accelerate climate action but did not endorse a fossil fuel phase-out. The deal includes a call for developed nations to triple funding for climate adaptation in poorer countries. While some leaders expressed disappointment over the lack of stronger commitments, others viewed the agreement as a step forward in addressing climate change. COP30 President Andre Aranha Correa do Lago pledged to create roadmaps for transitioning away from fossil fuels and halting deforestation.
