Workers trapped in tower collapse near Rome’s Colosseum

Rescuers are urgently attempting to save a worker trapped under rubble after the Torre dei Conti collapsed twice during restoration work near Rome’s Colosseum. One worker sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized, while another remains trapped, prompting complex rescue efforts due to the risk of further collapses. The 13th-century tower, which has been unused since 2006, was undergoing a major renovation funded by the EU, aimed at addressing structural decay and creating a museum exhibition. Additional minor injuries were reported among other workers involved in the incident.
