A woman experienced labor and gave birth late Monday night on a sidewalk outside Exposition Park, as reported by authorities and video footage from the scene.
The Los Angeles Fire Department was called to the 3800 block of South Figueroa Street at 11:33 p.m., according to spokesman Nicholas Prange.
Upon arrival, a fire engine, two ambulances, and paramedics were on the scene.
Footage captured firefighters and emergency personnel assisting in the delivery of the child, who was then wrapped in a white towel. Both the mother and newborn were transported to a hospital, according to Prange.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Prange had no updates on the condition of the mother and child. The mother’s identity remains unknown at this time.
