Australian woman Joanna Kathlyn Kinman narrowly avoided jail after being found guilty of offensive conduct involving human remains for attempting to sell two toes regurgitated by dogs at the animal shelter where she worked, which had belonged to a man whose identity remains undisclosed. Kinman had stored the toes in formaldehyde at her home and planned to sell them online for $253, along with other unusual items, and was sentenced to an 18-month non-custodial sentence and 150 hours of community service by Magistrate Andrew Sim in Melbourne. Despite losing her job and facing public backlash, Kinman expressed regret for her actions through her lawyer Rainer Martini in court.
