In a delayed Christmas surprise, Santa delivered a $1.22 billion Mega Millions jackpot to one lucky individual in California, with the winning ticket sold at Sunshine Food and Gas in Cottonwood. This massive jackpot, the fifth-largest in Mega Millions history, had been growing since September and was finally claimed after no winner in the previous drawing. The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, will receive an estimated cash value of $537.5 million before taxes, making it the third Mega Millions jackpot win of 2024.
