X’s new terms of service, implemented on Nov. 15, are causing some users to leave the platform as they require data usage for AI training and hold users liable for up to $15,000 in damages for excessive use. Celebrities like Gabrielle Union and everyday users are expressing their intent to switch to other platforms due to the changes. While it’s uncertain how many users have departed directly due to the new terms, Bluesky, a microblogging startup, has seen a 651% increase in U.S. mobile app downloads since the beginning of November, potentially due to Musk’s involvement and support for Donald Trump.
