Inayatullah Laghari, a farmer from Baid Sharif in Dadu, Pakistan, is among 39 farmers suing two German companies, RWE and Heidelberg Materials, for their greenhouse gas emissions, which they claim contributed to the catastrophic floods in 2022 that devastated Sindh province. The floods displaced 30 million people and caused approximately $40 billion in damages. The lawsuit, filed in a Heidelberg court, seeks to hold these companies accountable for climate-related harm, despite their lack of operations in Pakistan.
