In Gaza, six babies have died from hypothermia due to cold weather and limited access to aid and medical intervention amid ongoing Israeli attacks, which have killed over 45,500 people. Hypothermia occurs when the body loses heat faster than it can produce it, with symptoms ranging from mild confusion and fatigue to unconsciousness and cardiac arrest. Infants are at higher risk due to their small bodies and inability to efficiently produce heat, requiring prompt medical intervention such as passive or active rewarming techniques.
