Wildfire Impact in the UK
Charities have reported a dramatic increase in wildfires across the UK, with some areas experiencing a rise of 1,200% from last year, leading to devastating consequences for wildlife. Entire ecosystems have been “decimated,” threatening endangered species and severely damaging habitats for various animals, including butterflies, beetles, and falcons. The combination of one of the driest Marches in decades and warmer-than-average temperatures in April has resulted in peat bogs that may take “hundreds of years” to recover.
