Ali Shamkhani reportedly killed in US-Israel attacks

Ali Shamkhani, the secretary of Iran’s Defence Council and a key figure in US-Iran nuclear negotiations, has reportedly been killed in strikes attributed to Israel and the US. An Israeli military spokesperson confirmed his death along with several other Iranian officials. Shamkhani, 70, played a significant role in Iran’s defense policies and previously survived an Israeli attack in June 2025. His involvement in the ongoing nuclear discussions concluded shortly before his reported death.
