Summer temperatures in Eastbourne, Wellington have been below average due to a large low-pressure system in the east and a high-pressure system in the west, bringing cold air from the south. MetService predicts a return to normal temperatures next week after cooler than average conditions persist. Despite heavy rain warnings in Wairoa District, some areas like the South Island and Bay of Plenty have experienced average temperatures amidst the cold weather.
