More than $1 million worth of computers, laptops, and tablets have been stolen or lost by Western Power over the past two and a half years, with 563 devices reported missing from July 2023 to December 2022. This amounts to one device for every five employees, raising concerns about the security of taxpayer-funded equipment. In comparison, WA Health, which employs significantly more staff, reported only 90 computers and 63 phones lost in the same timeframe. Western Power stated that the lost items represent approximately 2% of its inventory and is reviewing its security measures.
