Elaine and Alan Taylor purchased an unloved beachside toilet block in Barmouth, Wales, for £33,000 in a blind bidding process in 2015, with the intention of transforming it into something amazing. After facing delays and challenges, including having to consult with Natural Resources Wales and raise the floor level for flood mitigation, the couple successfully renovated the building into a modern living space over the course of almost a decade. The project required demolishing the toilets brick by brick and overcoming unexpected issues with the electrics and water pipes, resulting in a costly and stressful but ultimately rewarding transformation.
