The government has rejected compensation for 3.6 million women affected by changes to the state pension age, despite previous Labour support for the Women Against State Pension Inequality (Waspi) campaign. In addition to the pension issue, the government is also facing calls for compensation from other groups, including postmasters affected by the Horizon scandal, victims of contaminated blood products, LGBT veterans dismissed from the military, and nuclear veterans exposed to radiation during weapons tests in the 1950s and 60s. The government has allocated funds for some compensation schemes but faces challenges in meeting all financial demands.
