Washington Post publisher to leave position

Washington Post publisher and CEO Will Lewis is departing just days after announcing layoffs of one-third of the staff. Lewis did not attend the meeting where the layoffs were discussed and has faced criticism for his management, including a failed reorganization and significant subscriber losses. Jeff D’Onofrio, the newspaper’s CFO, will serve as acting publisher and CEO. The layoffs resulted in the closure of the sports section and major cutbacks in foreign and local coverage.
