Rabobank’s 2025-26 Australian Winter Crop Outlook forecasts WA’s cropping area to grow 2.1% to 8.83 million hectares despite a notable reduction in wheat plantings due to rising fertilizer prices and poor market conditions. Additionally, mixed farmers are reducing sheep flocks due to the Albanese Government’s impending live sheep export ban, which is expected to further boost cropping areas and feedlotting in the future.
