A New Zealander in French Polynesia, Tom Francis, led his team to victory in the World Cup Blue Marlin Championship, marking the first win for a Kiwi in this event. They caught a 312.6kg blue marlin aboard Francis’ New Zealand-built boat, Ultimate Lady, with the boat’s 84-year-old builder, Fred Lewis, on board, who hooked the marlin just off Pā’ea’s coast.
