A village officer named M.P. Anil Kumar was arrested in Kozhikode, Kerala for accepting a bribe of ₹50,000 from a landowner for converting his land for a petrol pump construction. Anil Kumar, who had demanded ₹2 lakh in total, was caught red-handed at a lodge near the government medical college campus by the Vigilance unit, led by DySP K.K. Biju, after the landowner reported the incident. This arrest came after several complaints of similar nature during Anil Kumar’s 15 years of service, indicating a pattern of corruption.
