Video shows object streak across night sky in western suburbs – NBC Chicago

Residents in several suburban communities observed streaking objects with flames in the night sky, captured on video by a Yorkville, Illinois resident. The objects were believed to be debris falling from space and burning up in the Earth’s atmosphere, not meteors, according to a NBC 5 Storm Team Meteorologist. Despite no reports of debris hitting the ground, concerns about increased spacecraft reentries and potential pollution from vaporized metals in the stratosphere have been raised by scientists.
