VFACTS April 2025: Australian new vehicle deliveries drop

April 2025 saw a decline in new car sales across all states and territories, with a total of 90,614 vehicles delivered, down 6.8% from the previous year. While hybrids fell 6.0% to 14,288 deliveries, plug-in hybrids surged by 95.4% to 2,601, and electric vehicle sales decreased by 3.0% to 6,010, largely due to decreased Tesla deliveries. Toyota remained the top-selling brand despite a 6.7% drop, while Hyundai and Nissan showed growth, and the Toyota HiLux was the best-selling model with 4,121 deliveries, just ahead of the Ford Ranger.
