A group of residents in Havelock North is considering legal action to prevent the construction of a crematorium in the village. Their lawyers believe the only option is to challenge the 2024 resource consents granted by the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council and Hastings District Council. The crematorium, proposed at the existing Terry Longley and Sons funeral home on Cooper St, has been carefully assessed, requiring both air discharge and land use consents.
