In a significant blow to the Congress party in Uttarakhand, veteran leader Mathura Dutt Joshi, who has been associated with the party for five decades and served alongside Rajiv Gandhi, has bid farewell just 18 days before the local body elections, citing the need for a change aligned with his values and vision for the future. His discontent over ticket allocation led to his resignation, followed by suspension from the party’s disciplinary committee, leaving Congress in shock as it faces internal turmoil ahead of upcoming elections. To mitigate embarrassment, the party has expelled Joshi for six years, as stated in a letter signed by Dhani Lal Shah, member secretary of the Congress Disciplinary Committee.
