Audi Formula 1 executives believe their extensive experience across various motorsport categories will aid in adapting to the new power units set to debut in 2026. The brand is acquiring the Switzerland-based Sauber team as F1 transitions to a new era, where power units will feature a significant increase in electric power to 350kW (469hp), achieving a nearly equal split with internal combustion engines. Additionally, cars will be designed to recover twice as much energy compared to current standards. This strategic move positions Audi to compete effectively in the evolving landscape of Formula 1.
