FIA approves General Motors as 2029 F1 engine supplier

General Motors has been approved as a Formula 1 engine supplier for the 2029 season, marking its entry into the sport with the Cadillac F1 team starting in 2026. The FIA officially recognized GM Performance Power Units LLC as a power unit supplier, paving the way for American-made power units to be utilized from 2029 onwards. This approval comes less than two months after initial announcements regarding GM’s involvement in Formula 1, signifying a significant expansion for the brand in global motorsport.
