Audi appoints Slater as first academy driver

Audi has appointed reigning Formula Regional European champion Freddie Slater as the inaugural member of its Driver Development Programme. This initiative follows Audi’s acquisition of the Sauber Formula 1 team, finalized in 2024. The programme will be overseen by Allan McNish, a former F1 driver and three-time Le Mans 24 Hours victor, who has previously celebrated successes with Audi. The announcement marks Audi’s commitment to nurturing new racing talent.
