US to provide consular services in Israeli settlement in West Bank

Starting on February 27, the US Embassy in Jerusalem will offer in-person passport services in the illegal West Bank settlement of Efrat. This marks the first time the US will provide consular services to a settlement in the West Bank. The move comes amidst ongoing controversy over Israeli settlements in the occupied territory, which are considered illegal under international law. Israeli forces regularly carry out violent raids and demolitions in the West Bank, where attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians have intensified.
