Senators have voted to advance a stopgap funding bill to end the longest government shutdown in U.S. history, with a vote of 60 to 40. Eight Democrats joined Republicans to support the measure, which will fund parts of the government until January 30, but does not guarantee healthcare subsidies, promising only a vote on the issue by December. The bill must still be approved by the House and signed by President Trump. The vote is a crucial step towards resolving weeks of legislative gridlock.
