Two US Navy pilots were rescued after ditching their F/A-18 fighter jet during a landing mishap on the USS Harry S. Truman off Yemen’s coast, caused by a failure of the aircraft’s tailhook to engage properly. This incident marks the second loss of an F/A-18 in just over a week, following another mishap on April 28, and comes as President Trump announced a halt to the US bombing campaign against the Houthis in Yemen, claiming they have capitulated. Houthi officials responded by stating they would cease attacks on US ships if the bombing stopped, but would continue other retaliatory actions.
